He joined the Army in Pennsylvania and served as a Private in the 359th Infantry Regiment, 90th Infantry Division in the European Theater of Operations during World War II. He was killed on July 11th, 1944 and is interred at the Normandy American Cemetery, Plot C, Row 28, Grave 37.
He qualified for the European-African-Middle-Eastern Campaign Medal with one Bronze Service Star, the World War II Victory Medal, the Honorable Service Lapel Button World War II, and the Purple Heart.
From the 10th to the 12th of July, 1944 the 90th Infantry Division was engaged in battle for Mont Castre (Hill 122), part of the German Mahlman Line in Normandy.
His membership application states "Active", but at the time the options appeared to only be "Active" and "Honorary". Later he was a Scouting Advisor, but whether he initiated as an advisory or active member is uncertain.
The Spring, 2001 pledge class was named in his memory.
