K-0037 - Professor Boyd Coe Dennison
Boyd Coe Dennison, professor of electrical engineering at the Carnegie Institute of Technology, died August 19 in his home, 1005 Lancaster Street, Pittsburgh. Mr. Dennison, who was born in Hannibal, N. Y., was graduated from Cornell University in 1904 and received a Master of Electrical Engineering degree from that university in 1908. A member of the Carnegie faculty for 37 years, he was made a full professor in 1929. Before coming to Carnegie, Mr. Dennison taught at Cornell and was associated with the testing department of the General Electric Company in Schenectady, N. Y. He will long be remembered for his leadership in the Carnegie Tech Y. M. C. A. The co-author of "Electrical Problems," Mr. Dennison was also the author of several articles on electrical engineering in such publications as the Southern Electrician, Electrical World, and the Sibley Journal. He was a mamber of Sigma Xi, Tau Beta Pi, Eta Kappa Nu, Alpha Phi Omega, and Phi Kappa Psi. Chairman of the Pittsburgh section of the Institute of Electrical Engineers in 1921. He is survived by his wife, Ada Pease Dennison, two sons, Boyd C., Jr., and Richard W., E'36, and a sister, Mrs. Ella D. Wilder of Riverview, N. J. |
